Beginning on September 28, 2016 (Wednesday) there will be weekly SCA Project Night meetings from 7:00-9:00 pm held at the University of Maine Machias campus gymnasium (view a pdf of the UM Machias campus map). Some projects nights are run as class sessions where everyone learns a craft and works on it for the evening. Other nights people bring a project they are currently working on and keep company with others who are working on their own projects. This is a great place to come by and learn more about the diverse interests of others interested in medieval craftsmanship.

Availability to this meeting space at the University of Maine Machias may fluctuate during the academic year. Please check the Endewearde Master Calendar and the facebook group Washington Co., SCA. Sios Thoir, for updates to this weekly meeting.

Sing Thing at the home of Lord Gwillim & Lady Constancia is cancelled for Thursday September 29th.

For those of you who haven’t been in the past, Sing Thing is an opportunity for people who like music, particularly singing, to sit around a table and learn some stuff together. We do a mix of filk, SCA-original, and period pieces. There’s no “talent” required; the only expectation is that you come ready to sing and have fun. And you might want to bring a binder to hold all the great music!

Gatherings are held every other Thursday starting at 7:30 PM. The next gathering will be on October 13th.

Workshop Hours: 3:00-6:00 PM

Mistress Agatha Wanderer will be holding a kirtle patterning workshop on Sunday, September 25, 2016 where you will learn how to create your own personal “pattern block”. You can then use the pattern block to make fitted kirtles, gowns, and cotehardies using the draping method.

Participants will leave with a pattern and receive detailed instructions on choosing appropriate fabrics as well as instructions on how to cut out and sew their garments.

The workshop will be held at Eastern Maine Community College (EMCC), 354 Hogan Road, Bangor, Maine at the Maine Hall building on campus. Please use the Student Success Center entry–there will be a sign posted on the door. If you refer to the EMCC campus map (pdf) you will see Maine Hall is Building #1 (Johnston Gym Road) just above the green Quad square.

Please bring to the workshop: an old (non-stretchy) sheet or other light woven fabric, fabric scissors, pins, needle and thread. Mistress Agatha Wanderer will provide sharpies for marking fabric, but if you have your own markers please bring them.

You can ask questions and follow the conversation about this workshop by following the social media public facebook page Kirtle Patterning Workshop.
