Proposed Canton of Basingestoches in Downeast Maine
The device for the proposed Canton of Basingestoches (working name) uses a field division to denote the sunrise out of the sea. This symbolizes Downeast Maine’s status as the “first light of the nation” via Cadillac Mt. in Acadia National Park. The colors, tower and laurel all show fealty and participation in the Barony of Endewearde. The heraldic device for Endewearde’s incipient Canton of Wyndriche served as an inspiration and the Downeast group enjoyed utilizing the same imagery as Endewearde, yet in a way that was unique.
There is a weekly SCA Night being held at the home of Thomas de Marr and Leijsbet van Catwiic in Bar Harbor starting at 6:00 pm every Monday night. You are welcome to join those interested in medieval activities to work on a project or to learn what the group is about and how to become involved. You do not have to wear any special type of clothing to weekly meetings or have any expertise in medieval history to learn how to participate in SCA related activities. Please contact Thomas by email for driving directions to his home.
Check the Barony of Endewearde Calendar regularly for SCA Night and other upcoming activities happening in Downeast Maine and for schedule changes.
