SCA Demo at the Machias Summer Festival: July 15-17 (Friday – Sunday)

polearmsJoin the Barony of Endewearde for a Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) Demonstation at the Machias Summer Festival on Friday-Sunday, July 15-17, 2016. The University of Maine at Machias has generously provided space for our Medieval Encampment as part of the Summer Festival (known as Bold Coast Sea and Sky Festival). We have use of the open field area in the center of campus as well as around the pond. We have access to the Field House for bathroom & shower facilities so camping overnight will be very comfortable.

We would like to have a “Medieval Encampment” for shade, table demos, prep space, etc. Otto will bring the list ropes for fencing and fighting. Master Godric might bring a target for an archery demo. Please consider coming and sharing a medieval skill with the public. Please also bring some food for yourself.

The tentative schedule is to offer Mid-Morning fencing, fighting, archery, take a break for lunch with a fashion show Mid Day then finish off the Afternoon with fencing, fighting, and archery.

The following sources of information updates regarding organizing Endewearde for this demo can be found on facebook at SCA Medieval Encampment at Machias Summer Festival  as well as the Endewearde facebook group. If you need to drive in to drop off gear or tents then plan to arrive early (around 8 AM-ish); otherwise plan to walk in from the parking area with the items you need for the day.

Baron Ané du Vey is organizing a SCA Demo for Monday, June 8, 2015. The demo will be for about 20 high school students at Calvary Baptist Church’s Fellowship Hall, located between Center Street and Parker Street in Brewer, Maine. The students have been studying the Medieval era (unknown as to what extent) and are looking at capping off their end of the year banquet with a little surprise….us.

Here are the essential details:

Place: Calvary Baptist Church’s Fellowship Hall between Center St. and Parker St. in Brewer, Maine

Time: 6:30 pm

What: Anything you are interested in showing off. Vey will be able to marshal for Fencing and Fighting. Music would be great (the audience may be eating for some of this). Any A&S thing you want to show off, teach, or display is awesome. This is an olde fashioned what-we-do demo. Lets play and show off!

Vey indicates that he doesn’t need a ton of people….but the more the merrier. He looks forward to seeing some of you then!

You can contact Baron Ané du Vey at baron@endewearde.eastkingdom.org to volunteer or for additional information about the SCA demo.
