The Canton of Basingestoches invites all to join us as we celebrate the new year with our annual Feast of St Sylvester! We are delighted to host Endewearde’s Baronial Arts and Sciences Championship again this year. If you are a resident of Endewearde or one of its cantons please come compete to be Their Excellencies’ new A&S Champion!
This year our feast will have multiple courses served at a leisurely pace throughout the afternoon. In between courses you can enjoy the Tudor-style architecture of the hall, play games near the fireplace, or sample some of the beverages at the Cock and Bull Tavern – please bring a game or drink to share if you wish.
A traditional part of this event has been our Youth Cordial Challenge where youth under 18 submit a non-alcoholic cordial to a panel of judges. We are holding this challenge again but this year we are adding an 18+ division thanks to overwhelming interest. Also called a syrup, non-alchoholic cordials are quite easy to create the creativity is all in your choice of fruits, herbs, and other flavorings. A basic syrup recipe would be 1.5 cups of water + 1 cup of sugar, bring to a boil, simmer for 10 minutes, then pour over 1 cup of fruit; infuse for 12-24 hours in the fridge, strain, add to water to taste for a flavorful beverage.

Directions: Take your best route to Ellsworth, Maine. From Ellsworth take Route 3 to Mount Desert Island. At the head of the island bear right onto ME-102 S/ME-198 S . At the next traffic light, in Somesville just past the Shell station, take a left onto ME-198 S/ME-3 W . Stay on that road until you enter Northeast Harbor. In Northeast Harbor bear left onto Main St. At the end of Main St is the Neighborhood house. Parking is on the streets and at the medical center to the right.
Site/Feast fees: $30 adults, $10 children 6-17 years of age, 5 and under are free. Please let us know if you are bringing anyone under 5 when you send in your registration. There is a $5 discount for members on the site fee. Reservations accepted Nov 1 thru Dec 29, 2018.
